A lease (being an under lease to the 1763 lease) dated 10thDec 1790 between John Forsythe the younger and John Forsythe the elder, whereby the land was granted to James Forsythe in trust for John Forsythe. A lease (being an under lease of another part of the premises) dated 20th May 1782 between John Forsythe the younger and William Maphet registered Book 391 / Number 261926. Another lease dated 5th Mar 1805 between said John Forsythe tertius and William Moffett, whereby the lands held by Moffett were demised to James Forsythe in trust for said John Forsythe. And reciting that Dobbs had agreed with John Forsythe for the absolute purchase of said lands so originally demised by the 1763 deed, subject only to the undertenants’ leases etc, and discharged from the jointure of £30 to Hester Forsythe in the 1806 settlement, for the price of £1900. Witnesseth that in consideration of £1900 John Forsythe sold to Dobbs the land demised by John Gillilan to John Forsythe the elder in 1763, and better known by the description of all that ground formerly in the possession of James Adair and then in the occupation of John Forsythe and his undertenants being in the townland of Dunturkey, Ballynure, abutting on the north by the Strand river, the street of the village of Ballynure and the public road from Ballynure to Ballyclare; on the south by a farm in the occupation of Alexander Kennedy; on the east by lands in the possession of James Wilson and Robert Henderson, and on the west lands in the occupation of John Forsythe (party thereto). Memorial of assignment dated 17th [April?] 1857 between John Gibson of Ballyhone [Ballyhowne] Carnmoney, farmer, executor of the will of Elizabeth Gibson widow, of the 1st part; William Forsythe of Straidnahanna, Carrickfergus, farmer of the 2nd; Robert Forsythe of Straidnahanna, Carrickfergus, farmer, of the 3rd; William Forsythe and Daniel Logan of Straidnahanna, farmers, executors of the will of John Forsythe late of Straidnahanna of the 4th; and Samuel Logan of Straidnahanna, 5th. After reciting lease dated 31st Jul 1838 whereby Donegall leased part of Straidnahanna for 61 years; and reciting indenture dated 1st Nov 1838 whereby said William Forsythe in consideration of £180 assigned his interest to James Stewart by way of mortgage; and by deed of assignment dated 22nd Jan 1846, James Stewart’s estate became vested in Elizabeth Gibson spinster ad Elizabeth Gibson widow as tenants in common; said farm afterward became vested in John Forsythe (deceased) and he duly made his will dated 13thAug 1853 and left the lands to his father the said William Forsythe for his life, and afterwards to his brother Robert Forsythe, subject to five sums of £6 to each of testator’s sisters, and testator appointed said William Forsythe, Daniel Logan and also James Hegin [Hagan] his executors, probate was granted to William Forsythe and Daniel Logan 24th Nov 1854; and reciting that the said Elizabeth Gibson spinster made her will 22nd Feb 1848 whereby she appointed her brother the said John Gibson and Neal Henderson her executors, probate granted to John Gibson 1st Mar 1853; and Elizabeth Gibson widow died on or about the 25th Dec 1855 intestate and letters of administration were granted to John Gibson on 6th Apr 1857; and reciting that there was then due on the foot of said indenture of mortgage the sum of £40 9s 3p and same was then payable to said John Gibson, and the said William and Robert Forsythe being desirous to sell the lands they had with the privity of the said Daniel Logan, they agreed to sell to Daniel Logan for £340 subject to said five legacies therein before mentioned, and upon the treaty of said purchase it was agreed that the sum of £40 9s 3p debt should be paid to said John Gibson and that the sum of £299 10s 9p should be paid to Robert Forsythe. This memorial witnessed that the sums were paid by Samuel Logan to Robert Forsythe (at the request of the said William Forsythe with the consent of the said William Forsythe and Daniel Logan), and also that they the said John Gibson, William Forsythe and Robert Forsythe and the said William Forsythe and Daniel Logan as executors, transfer and assign to Samuel Logan all that and those piece of land of Straidnahanna containing 28a 1r 9p IPM situate and lying in the West Division of Carrickfergus, to hold for the residue of 61 years. Witnessed by Alexander Cochran and David Poole of Belfast.
